Augustana has two book groups meeting currently:
The Augustana Book Group meets monthly to discuss recent books that touch on topics of cultural, political, or historical importance. Some of the standout works that were read in 2017 included J.D. Vance’s “Hillbilly Elegy,” Hope Laren’s “Lab Girl,” Susan Vreeland’s “Clara and Mr. Tiffany,” and Cindy Gueli’s “Lipstick Brigade.”
The Borg Book Group is a reading circle focused on provocative and thought-provoking books about Christian history, doctrine, and scholarship that meets approximately quarterly. This group read three titles during 2017: “The Anatomy of Peace: Resolving the Heart of Conflict,” by the Arbinger Institute, “The Great Emergence: How Christianity is Changing and Why,” by Phyllis Tickle, and “Christian Beginnings: From Nazareth to Nicea,” by Geza Vermes.
All are welcome to join in the book discussions! Announcements about upcoming book group gatherings are found on the News & Events page.
