Young Adults Group

Augustana's Young Adults on a white-water rafting tripOver the last few years, the young adults group has grown, and with this, it has developed stronger leadership, and it has been gathering more consistently. There is not an age requirement or limit for joining the group in its activities, but most members of the group find commonalities in their station in life, whether it’s being under 40, being single or being a young professional working in the D.C. area.

Most months, the group meets every third Friday of the month for happy hour at different locations around D.C.  We also plan other opportunities for fellowship with one another, including weekend trips to Maryland’s Eastern Shore, movie nights and holiday parties hosted by members of the group. This has allowed us to become closer friends when we’re at church as well as outside Augustana.

The Augustana young adults have a great time together in social gatherings and also take on active leadership roles in the church, including serving on the congregational council, co-chairing the stewardship committee and campaign, singing in the choir, volunteering together at N Street Village and Martha’s Table, to name just a few.

We hope to continue to grow and welcome anyone and everyone to join us!

Young adult connections in the metro D.C. area

There is a young adult group sponsored by the ELCA Metropolitan Washington, D.C., Synod. Its website describes the group as “started by Lutherans but now made up of people from many different backgrounds. One thing we all have in common: we’re going in a million different directions, but all seeking God on the way. Our hope is that when our paths cross, we’ll be able to point one another to an experience of God in a community of people gathered in faith.”

The group holds events and has ways of staying connected:
